Honeymoon Pictures!

We’ve been back from our Honeymoon for over a week now, and I would be remiss if I did not mention in this space that we put up a ton of pictures from our adventures in Florida. We had an awesome time.

If you are ever at Walt Disney World and have the opportunity to eat at the Hollywood Brown Derby at MGM Studios, take it. That place is amazing.

Taking Care of Your Favor Plants

I meant to tell everyone how to care for their favors, but of course I only remembered to tell some people. All they need is full to partial sun, and to be kept moist. They can be planted outside, if you care to, and both kinds are annuals. The plant with just foliage is called White Splendor (I think), and the plant with flowers is called Ageratum.

Send Us Your Pictures!

If you took pictures at the wedding, we’d LOVE to see them. I’ve already covered the basics of uploading your shots to flickr, but if you can’t figure something out, please don’t hesitate to email me or comment on this post. We really want to see your pictures, and I’ll do anything I can to hold your hand through the process.

And if you took a lot of pictures, you may consider actually buying a flickr account. It’s only $30 for a one year subscription, and you get to upload practically an unlimited number of pictures every month.

If you didn’t take pictures, head on over to the flickr photo pool anyway, because there will be shots there soon.

Wedding Music

Several people said that they really enjoyed the music selections we played during the party. Amanda and I put the whole playlist together ourselves, and we’re thrilled that people liked it.

I’ve published it as an iMix on the iTunes Music Store, so you can view and buy tracks you liked. The playlist, in its entirety, is reproduced below.

Bachelor/-ette Party

Amanda and I are not into strippers, so we’re having a co-bachelor/-ette party the night before the wedding. And what better party celebrating the union of two comic book nerds could there be than a 9:30 screening of Batman Begins? We’ll be at the Campus Theatre in Lewisburg. Join us, and the Dark Knight, for what promises to be an awesome evening.

Construction Updates

To get updates on construction that is occuring on Route I-80 in Pennsylvania, you can go to the site NEPA Roads.

Speak Up (if you want to)

In 1681, King Charles II of England granted William Penn the New World colony that would become Pennsylvania. Penn founded Pennsylvania on the principle that settlers would be permitted to worship (or not worship) however they saw fit. The largest sect of Christians to settle Pennsylvania was the Quakers.

As Quakers basically formed the religious basis for Pennsylvanian society, most counties in Pennsylvania still offer Quaker Marriage Licenses. These licenses permit the holders to marry in whatever way they choose. As there is traditionally no central figure (like a minister or priest) in a Quaker meeting, no such figure is necessary for a Quaker wedding. Because of our beliefs and feelings on what marriage is and represents, Amanda and I applied for a Quaker Marriage License and have designed our own ceremony.

In the spirit of the Quaker traditions of tolerance and openness, we’re building into the ceremony a section for you, our family and friends, to stand up and say…whatever you want to say. Quaker meetings do not have a set agenda—rather, participants stand up and speak as they feel moved to do so. We don’t want to put any sort of pressure on anyone to speak; we just want people to be aware that there will be a chance to do so during the ceremony.

If you want to speak, you don’t have to tell us or do anything to get on a “list”: there is no list. Since there is no wedding party, and dinner is an informal barbecue affair, consider this our toast. We invite you to be a part of it.

If It Rains...

As much as we don’t want to think about it, we’re making preparations for a good time if the skies open up on us come June 18. We have a nice big tent with plenty of tables and chairs for dinner anyway, so that’ll become the focal point of the party if it rains.

If you’ve got a favorite board game or card game, bring it along. If you’ve got a favorite multiplayer GameCube game (I’m thinking along the lines of Mario Party here), bring it along. If we’ve got to put up with rain, we’ll make our own fun and have a good time anyway.

Honeymoon Plans

Amanda and I have now made and discarded three separate honeymoon plans:

Immediately after I proposed, we started talking about honeymoon plans. Hawaii was the unanimous choice. Then we looked at prices of Hawaii vacations.

In an effort to save some money off the sky-high Hawaii prices, we talked about going to Costa Rica. The plans never took, because we had just finished our road trip and were really into the driving thing. We quickly shifted to…

A drive to New England and eastern Canada. This was our plan up until Monday, when we realized that we had waited too long to make reservations at Acadia National Park and other locations in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

So, here’s the itinerary for our honeymoon:

June 24: Drive to near Fayetteville, NC

June 25: Drive to Miami, FL

June 26: Full day at Everglades National Park

Tram tour

Wet walk could be cool

June 27: Drive to Disney World

June 27 - July 2: Disney!

July 2: Drive to lake house

July 2-4: Family reunion

July 5: Drive home

Yeah, we’re probably insane for doing so much driving on our honeymoon, but it’s a good way to save money and still make it to a family reunion which we were sure we were going to have to miss.

To all the Georgia Wilsons: if you can’t make it to the wedding, we’ll see you in July!

What to Wear and Bring

I’m so glad to see everyone RSVPing. It’s so cool for me to see who’s coming so quickly- it makes me even more excited than I already am.

I’ve gotten quite a few questions of “So what should we wear to the wedding?” I think the best thing for guys would be khakis or pants that are lightweight since the whole event is outside, and a shirt that is also comfortable for summer weather. Jeans would be too hot, I would think. For the ladies, sun dresses, shorts, etc. How people dressed at the wedding shower in NJ was the perfect thing. Dressing for comfort is really the thing, since we will be outside, and there will be games to play. Croquet, bocce ball, badmitton, bean bags, and probably horseshoes or quoits. Since the weather will also be a little cooler at night, and it’s also a little bit higher elevation, I’d bring something heavier for later in the evening.

Also, since we’ll be having fireworks at night, you may want to bring lawn chairs/blankets to sit on. It’s going to be so much fun!
